Day and night

two different gameplay loops

Day and night open different abilities, mysteries, and routes. Steam’s own short description of Coen — human by day and vampire by night — is the loop, not a metaphor. The world itself changes after sundown. This is not a rest-cycle overlay and not a difficulty slider. Witchcraft belongs to the daylight body Anca taught; vampirism belongs to the night body that wakes after the Blood Mass. You will spend the family’s remaining days inside both loops, so switching them on purpose is the whole combat and exploration grammar Switch them on purpose, or the numbered clock spends both halves without you.

By day — witchcraft

While the sun holds, Coen remains human. Anca’s witchcraft is crowd-control, damage-over-time, buffs and debuffs. It is the daylight answer to groups, doors, and people who still believe Coen is only a silver-country son. Compel Soul is the named ability that lets him speak with the dead for the Steam achievement Dead Man Talkin’. Arch Warlock tracks an Ultimate Perk in this tree. No official numeric ranks shipped for those perks, so this page does not print a fake mana cost.

Daylight is also when the household still looks like a household. Pieter’s sword work, Esme’s care, and the siblings’ errands sit on the human clock. If you treat day as a damage rotation only, you will miss the people the numbered-days system is actually counting. The loop is social and martial at once.

Books and trainers exist for Swordmastery; witchcraft’s named teacher is Anca. If you only press night abilities because they look louder in the trailer, you will miss Compel Soul, crowd-control, and the household conversations that only make sense on the human clock. Day is not the weak half of a meter.

Steam Cloud will save both loops on one character. There is no second save slot named Night Coen. If you want a purely human run, the Blood Mass still happens; the product is the Dawnwalker. Play the switch or play a different game.

By night — vampirism

After sundown the other kit wakes. Vampiric abilities are fueled by health and corruption. Most of them demand a sacrifice. Shadow Roamer on the Steam table measures a thousand metres travelled on those abilities — the night loop is a movement language, not a damage toggle. Creature of the Night tracks the Ultimate Perk in this tree. Balanced Diet counts drinks from animals, humans, or monsters. Feral Hunger stays hidden on the community table until you unlock it.

Night also changes the valley’s danger. First-party valley copy talks about day-to-night shifts across the same streets of Vale Sangora, including Svartrau and Laslea. Do not assume a cleared daylight yard is safe after the disc drops. The vrakhiri occupancy does not clock out.

Sacrifice is the cost the store copy actually uses. This page will not invent a corruption percentage. Creature of the Night and Shadow Roamer are the Steam verbs for the kit. Feeding counts exist on Balanced Diet. Hidden hunger rows stay blank. That is the whole night vocabulary we are allowed to print.

Switching the same body

XP comes from enemies, quests, hidden locations, and bosses, then spends as skill points plus time to learn abilities. Swordmastery, witchcraft, and vampirism can be specialised or hybridised. That sentence is the entire official skill doctrine. There is no published cooldown table, no published corruption meter number, and no published remaining-hour split between day and night. Hybrid play is allowed; invented HUD values are not.

The story trailer on this page is the motion reference for how the two loops sit in a fight. Pair it with the combat bands on Sword and hex when you want Pieter, Anca, and the night kit named as three paths. Pair it with Numbered days when you want to know why you cannot do every quest in both loops.

Time to learn matters as much as skill points. You cannot dump a tree in a pause menu and walk out with an Ultimate Perk. Master of Arms, Arch Warlock, and Creature of the Night exist to mark those perks without publishing the node math. Hybrid builds are legal; fake calculators are not.

What to read next

If you have not survived the first Laslea sundown, go back to First nights and keep the three-id checklist. If you already have, spend a session on the household clock before you open the vrakhiri court. The court does not care that you have a daylight hex prepared; Brencis has been a vampire since AD 131.

Platform and edition questions do not change the loop. GeForce NOW, Play Anywhere, and the Eclipse extras sit on the editions page. The loop itself is the same body at noon and after the disc drops.

GeForce NOW and Play Anywhere do not fork the loop. A cloud session still has a sundown. A Play Anywhere save still has a household clock. The dual body is the product, not the storefront you used to pay for it.

Two loops, one valley, one remaining-day pool. If a guide tells you to “do all the day content then all the night content,” it is ignoring the clock. Switch on purpose. Leave people unhelped on purpose. That is the game.

One save, two loops, one remaining-day pool. There is no Night Coen slot.
